Bright medium yellow. Tropical fruits and peach on the nose, plus a hint of mirabelle. Ripe citrus and floral flavors are nicely framed by juicy acidity. Turns a bit phenolic on the back end, finishing with a resiny note, some vanillin oak and slightly edgy acidity. Most of this barrel blend went through malolactic fermentation. The winemaking team does a lot of lees stirring for this wine; head winemaker Genevieve Janssens noted that the 2011 was still being stirred twice weekly as of early March. - Stephen Tanzer 89+ Points
The 2009 Chardonnay Reserve shows gorgeous texture, nuance and detail in an understated style that is quite appealing. Melon, peach, spice and floral notes round out the generous, clean finish. This is a fairly restrained wine with excellent freshness and little in the way of tropical or oak notes. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2016.
