Crafted with purpose from the outset, our rosé of grenache shows pale amber in the glass, with an abundance of lush tropical fruit like tart kiwi and pineapple on the nose. The palate offers fresh stone fruit notes of nectarine, mango with hints of crisp green apple. Delicate with bright acidity, this wine offers enough structure to enjoy year round.
Owned by the same family for nearly 100 years, the vineyard for our rosé of grenache is located on the southwestern facing slope along the Talmage Bench east of Ukiah in Mendocino County. The Russian River flows the length of the Ukiah Valley, and the fertile flood plain of this famous waterway is flanked by miles of benchland. The rough, stony, well-drained soils here force the vines to struggle throughout the growing season, and as a result, the small berries develop concentrated aromatics and flavors.
We manage the vineyard for our rosé of grenache separately from those used for our red grenache, giving us the control that is necessary to produce a rosé wine of exemplary quality. We harvest the grapes once they have achieved the perfect balance of ripeness and structure, the fruit is then whole cluster pressed with quick skin contact to extract perfect color before being pressed off into a stainless tank for cool temperature fermentation.
