Tasting Note:
Deep purple-toned crimson. Brooding aromas of dark red fruits (plums and mulberries) with the sweet scent of cedary oak. Liquid velvet with spicy blackberry and raspberry power, finishing on notes of smoky liquorice, generously wrapping a framework of rounded tannins.
Food:
This wine is meant for a cold night in front of the fire – beside the hearth indoors in winter, round the fire-pit outside in more clement months. Perfect with rosemary-scented, still-pink lamb chops, thick-cut steak with duck-fat fried potatoes or smoked paprika, tomato and butter bean stew with hot panini.
Glass-staining ruby. Powerful aromas of mineral-tinged dark fruit preserves, cherry pit, licorice and violet, with a smoky quality in the background. Fleshy and energetic on the palate, offering gently sweet blackberry and cherry compote flavors complicated by notes of fruitcake and bitter chocolate. The spice and mineral qualities come back on the persistent finish, which is framed by smooth, slow-building tannins.- Josh Raynolds Vinous 90 Points
