From the dense fog and brilliant sun to the high winds, cool coastal air, and diverse terrain, the California coast presents many challenges. And yet it’s still one of the best areas to grow grapes to produce a bold Red Blend. Each of the vineyards chosen for this wine offers the best expression of its respective appellation, carefully blended to achieve balance, complexity, and richness of flavor.

    WINEMAKING:

Grapes are picked at the optimum ripeness levels to ensure deep, intense flavors and soft, rounded tannins. During fermentation, wines are pumped over to gently extract flavor, aromatics, structure, and color. We aged the wine primarily in French oak, whose flavors and textures complement the fruit and structure of the wine. The end result is an intensely flavored wine that is well-balanced and complex.

    BLEND MAKEUP:

This Red Blend is made up primarily of Syrah, Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot in relatively equal parts to create a richly layered wine of bold character and exceptional balance. The exact blend and varietals may vary with each vintage to showcase the best of these regions year after year.

    TASTING NOTES:

Lush, expressive aromas of jammy, dark fruit and toasty oak are heightened by big, ripe flavors of juicy blackberries, currants, black and red cherries, strawberries, dark roast mocha, and sweet vanilla. The rich, plush mouthfeel leads to a long, lingering finish.
