Deep ruby-red. Aromas of black cherry, black licorice and menthol. Superripe yet rather pinot-like flavors of red fruits, with tart pomegranate and cranberry notes and palate-shocking acidity. But this very young, tightly wound wine also possesses the density and solid structure to develop in bottle. Finishes with hints of tart and dried fruits. Also tasted: 2001 Roussanne Edna Valley.
