The great Australian poet Banjo Patterson immortalised Clancy of the Overflow in his ode to all that is good and true living on the land. Peter Lehmann honoured Clancy’s legend in the early 90s with a classic Australian blend that is as true to the land as Clancy. Like the loyal drover, they always deliver and in turn have become legendary in their own right.
A deep cherry red colour leads to a bouquet showing blackcurrant from the Cabernet, vibrant red fruits from Shiraz and Merlot and charry oak in the background. The palate shows rich plummy bright red fruits, and long, savoury tannins adding complexity.
Medium garnet in color, the 2013 Clancy's (a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Merlot and Cabernet Franc) has a warm plum and blackberry preserves scented nose with hints of menthol and black pepper. The medium-bodied palate is simple yet well made, balanced and with a good amount of expressive fruit supported by soft tannins and finishing with a refreshing lift. - Robert Parker 86 Points
