The 2009 Barolo Castelletto is awkward at this young stage but already shows signs of super ripe fruit that come forward as Maraschino cherry and blackberry jam. It also shows the biggest structure and power. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2025. - Robert Parker 92 Points
An exotic style, with wild cherry and strawberry details, showing hints of flowers and tobacco. On the firm side, this is linear in profile, offering fine length. Best from 2017 through 2030. 500 cases made. –BS - Wine Spectator Magazine 91 Points
Good dark red. Dark cherry, underbrush and earth on the nose, complicated by brown spices and mint. Smooth on entry, then less sweet and open in the middle than the normale, showing a distinct medicinal reserve today. Energetic but not at all showy today, this tight wine finishes with substantial dusty, serious tannins that arrive late. I'd wait a couple years on this one. - Stephen Tanzer 90+ Points
