Wine:
Bright, approachable fruit is the hallmark of our 2012 Merlot. Cool coastal sourcing, combined with the temperate vintage, encouraged vibrant cherry and red currant aromas and flavors, which are complemented by the varietal’s natural herbal undertones. Oak aging adds a touch of vanilla and pleasant mid-palate sweetness. Long and smooth with soft tannins, the palate delivers a balanced acidity and pleasing fruit-forward nature that makes this wine a perfect companion to food, ranging from roasted chicken to grilled meats or veggies.
Vineyard:
Our Merlot was sourced from vineyards throughout California, primarily on the North Coast and Central Coast. A majority of the fruit comes from Lake County and Paso Robles where the vineyards sit at higher elevations, many over 1,000 feet. Here, the grapes experience warm days and cool nights, allowing the fruit to reach optimal ripeness while retaining a vibrant natural acidity. A small percentage of the wine came from Napa, adding another layer of dark fruit and subtle nuances.
