TASTING NOTES:
The 2015 Ferrari-Carano Pinot Grigio is a refreshing and light-bodied white wine that is perfect as an apéritif. This wine has delicious aromas and flavors of fresh apricot, lime, green apple, melon, honeyed hints of floral, citrus zest, Meyer lemon, and white peach. Silky and round in texture, this Pinot Grigio is also bright and crisp with concentrated flavors that linger to the finish.
VINTAGE NOTES:
Grapes from select vineyards in Russian River Valley create this refreshing wine. 2015, like 2014, was another drought year in California. We did have some rains in February followed by a warm spring which led to early bud break. A moderate growing season all year with warm days, cool nights and unusual summer rains led to an early harvest in September.
WINEMAKER NOTES:
Individual lots of hand-harvested Pinot Grigio grapes are gently whole-cluster pressed to minimize any color or harsh tannin extraction, then racked to stainless steel tanks for cold fermentation. This wine does not undergo malolactic fermentation in order to retain its bright flavors and crisp acidity. Depth and complexity are enhanced with weekly lees stirring until bottling.
FOOD PAIRINGS:
Our Pinot Grigio is perfect as an apéritif and is ideal to pair with many types of cuisines. Our favorite pairings include dishes such as seafood salad, pan-seared scallops, oysters on the half shell, or entrées with lively and spicy flavors one might find in Asian cuisine.
