HISTORY NOTES: With the 2001 vintage, Villa Antinori became an IGT Toscana wine, allowing Antinori to have complete control of the winemaking process. The design of the label has remained unaltered since 1928 with only the very slightest modifications in 1990 and in 2001. VINIFICATION: Varieties were fermented separately, with about 20 days on the skins. Malolactic fermentation occurred naturally in cement tanks. AGING: About 18 months in French barrique made specially for this wine. 60% new and 40% second-use. TASTING NOTES: This is a balanced and harmonious Solengo with a nose of spice and berries. It is velvety on the palate with great structure and a long finish.

PRODUCTION TECHNIQUE:The alcoholic fermentation of the grapes takes place in Horizon hybrid stainless steel & wood tanks, and it lasts for 8/12 days at 24°-26°C until the last 3 days, when the temperature is brought up to 30°C. Once completed this first phase we proceed with the malolactic fermentation that takes place in French oak barrique where the wine is aged for a long period. The 2003 Brunello di Montalcino from Coldisole offers lovely density and weight on the palate in a fat, rich expression of ripe dark fruit, chocolate, scorched earth and toasted oak.
