The 2013 S.L.V. offers intriguing aromas of dark chocolate, currant, date, licorice and baking spice. The wine is full bodied with layered, complex flavors of black currant, wild berry, graphite and vanilla that lead to a bold, yet silky finish. The wine’s structured tannins, rich fruit, and pleasing minerality point to this wine’s ability to age.

The 40th anniversary cuvée 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon S.L.V. is a real beauty without a hard edge to be found. It has a velvety texture, beautiful blueberry, black raspberry and blackcurrant fruit, a judicious touch of oak, sweet, creamy full-bodied opulence, stunning purity, and represents a prodigious effort to celebrate 40 years. - Robert Parker 96 Points
Iron, smoke, red stone fruits, rose petal and chocolate are some of the scents that emerge from the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon S.L.V. Powerful, intense and earthy, the 2013 delivers a rush of intensity, with a firm spine of tannins that propels the finish. Here, too, there is plenty of opulence, but the S.L.V. also offers a striking dimension of mineral and savory notes to balance things out. This distinctly virile, imposing Cabernet is going to need time. Closing notes of cinnamon and rose add striking perfume. The S.L.V. is the tightest of these wines today. - Antonio Galloni 94+ Points
