Winemaking:
Grapes were hand-sorted and gently crushed. The wine underwent natural-yeast fermentation in barrel and had an extended maceration period to soften the tannins. The wine was bottled after 18 months of aging.
Vintage Notes:
The 2017 vintage was an excellent growing year, with record rainfall in January (20+”), almost double historical average. Ideal weather through May led to very temperate flowering. The replenished groundwater aided a balanced vegetative cycle with lots of green, healthy vines.
Tasting Notes:
Dark plum red in color with aromas of ripe blackberry and dark chocolate with hints of spicy oak and black pepper. The palate is rich and concentrated with flavors of ripe blue and black fruits, laced together with toasted oak notes which finishes with robust and balanced tannin.
