VINEYARD INFORMATION:
This wine hails from Clarksburg, an appellation located 30 miles east of Amador County. This AVA enjoys cooler temperatures than surrounding regions thanks to the breezes that flow up the Sacramento River Delta from San Francisco Bay. This allows grapes to ripen slowly and develop depth in flavors and aromas — perfect conditions for growing aromatic white grape varieties such as Pinot Grigio.
WINEMAKING:
The grapes were harvested at night to preserve their bright flavor and acidity. At the winery, the fruit was gently pressed and the juice fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks at a low temperature to bring out the variety’s clean fruit character.
TASTING NOTES:
The 2020 Pinot Grigio entices with aromas of ripe stone fruit, green apple, pear and honeydew, all accentuated by floral and mineral notes. On the palate, the wine enters with generous juicy stone fruit and honeydew melon, followed by a midpalate of fresh cantaloupe and a core of minerality leading to a long, elegant finish.
