After several years of testing the growing of non-traditional grape varietes, and then experiencing new blends, in 2003 we found the final "formula" for this wine. Beyond Sangiovese wines, the blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah in equal quantities is the best expression of the terroir at Fattoria di Basciano. Very structured and complex wine, it matches with red meats, stewed meats, game, roasted meats and aged cheeses perfectly. Deep ruby red colour. Very aromatic nose, showing plum, berry and well-integrated hints of vanilla. On the palate, it is ripe, full-bodied, with silky tannins and a long finish.
Concentrated flavors of black cherry, plum and black currant are shaded by cedar, sage and thyme in this powerful red. The dusty tannins are well-integrated. Long finish. Best from 2018 through 2026. 700 cases made.–BS - Wine Spectator Magazine 90 Points
The 2014 I Pini is a blend of equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah aged in French oak. It offers a darkly concentrated and rich appearance with plump layers of dark cherry, blackberry and spice. Additional oak-driven aromas include leather and tobacco. This Tuscan red blend offers exactly what you would expect of these three varieties, with structure, softness and spice.
