Vineyards & Winemaking:
Harvested from vineyards of calcareous clay soils near the town of Monforte d’Alba. The grapes undergo a soft crushing followed by a temperature controlled fermentation using selected yeasts. The wine is matured in French oak for one year prior to release.
Taste:
Complex and concentrated aromas of raspberry and black cherry with hints of toasted hazelnut, chocolate, and leather. The wine is full-bodied but with a freshness that balances the wine’s ample weight. The finish is long and filled with red fruit and toasted oak flavors.
Notes:
Barbera is one of our staff favorites and possibly one of the most underrated grape varietals. At home in Italy’s Piedmont, Barbera makes wines that are full bodied, but bright and well balanced. This one comes from the same producer as our Barolo. If Barolo is your Saturday night wine than this Barbera is your Friday night pizza wine...
Just make sure that it’s good pizza.
