THE STORY:
The year was 1924. It was the heart of the Prohibition Era and wine’s darkest hour when it was outlawed and deemed unconstitutional. It was also the year our family first planted vineyards in California and farmed grapes that were sold to friends and neighbors. Story goes some of these grapes might have been used to make wine.
WINE:
1924 Double Gold Sauvignon Blanc delivers aromas of gooseberry, mango and citrus with grassy notes that are complemented by juicy and crisp flavors of ripe melon and grapefruit zest.
PAIRINGS:
Enjoy this refreshing wine alongside prosciutto with melon, pan-crusted fish or a summer salad with brie.
WINEMAKING:
For this 1924 Sauvignon Blanc, we leave the grapes on the vine until optimal ripeness based on a combination of winemaker evaluation, vineyard condition and an eye on weather. For this vintage, we picked early to promote bright, tropical flavors while still maintaining the wines acidity and structure. The juice was then moved to temperature controlled stainless steel tanks for fermentation. Finished wines are carefully selected and blended to maximize flavor intensity.
