    THE WINE:
Our Vintage Selection is the ultimate expression of the Charles Krug portfolio, a tribute to the first vintage produced by our family in 1944. Fruit is sourced from our vineyards in Yountville. Aromas of coffee bean and blueberries lead to flavors of baked berry, caramel and vanilla, resulting in a full-bodied, supple and truly elegant wine.

    THE VINTAGE:
The 2014 harvest saw little rain as we were still in a drought, despite that fact we had above average yields. Well timed rain in the spring helped with vine and berry development and we had a long harvest period allowing the fruit to fully ripen and develop complex flavors in the vineyard. With few spots of rain and some dry and warm cycles the flavor in the berries became intensely concentrated, providing us with the quality fruit we desire for our wines.

Lots of blackberry and bark with hints of dark tea on the nose and palate. Medium to full body, fine tannins and a flavorful finish. Shows intensity and focus. Drink in 2020. - James Suckling 93 Points

The deep purple-colored 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Vintage Select (98% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Petit Verdot) gives up plenty of black (and some blue) fruits as well as lots of incense, white pepper, and an almost potpourri-like nuance. It’s ripe, nicely concentrated, and textured on the palate, with high-quality tannin, and will keep for two decades or more. - Jeb Dunnuck 92 Points

Pure, clean and supple, focused on vibrant cherry, plum and anise notes, with fine-grained tannins that make this easy to drink without sacrificing flavor and finesse. Drink now through 2032. 850 cases made. -JL. - Wine Spectator Magazine 92 Points
