Our Cabernet Sauvignon vines are planted in gravelly soils in the northwestern quadrant of our estate vineyard in the Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley. These well-drained soils combined with limited yields produce Cabernet Sauvignon fruit with bright and complex flavors.
The 2014 vintage was rather exciting. We feel very fortunate to have brought in such fantastic grapes in a year that was marked by severe drought and a significant earthquake here in Napa just as harvest began. The weather throughout the growing season was absolutely perfect, with our classic warm days and cool nights. We brought in grapes from each block as they reached ideal ripeness and have produced wines of truly exceptional quality.
The beautiful nose features aromas of blackberry, red currant and dried fruit. The palate is round and luxurious with herbal tones and well integrated oak. The elegant finish has complex flavors of cassis, cocoa and black pepper.
Bring out the flavors in the wine with the addition of thyme or black pepper over a prime cut of beef, pork or duck. Our favorites are wine braised short ribs or grilled beef tenderloin with a mushroom sauce.
