Alto is one of the most marked expressions of the power of a territory, the Val di Cornia, whose geological and microclimate are expressed sharply through a grape, Sangiovese, which in Tuscany has its homeland.

In this corner of the Tyrrhenian coast, Sangiovese is proposed with particular complexity and tannic force associating a distinct trace mineral acidity less marked than the best known, typical of inland areas. In this sense, Alto is young performer of experimental research that seeks to address, for difference, an emotional charge arising from land of clay matrix and phenolic ripening perfectly accomplished.

The Sangiovese grapes are harvested by hand in late September with a special care for the integrity of the berry. After careful selection on the desks of sorting, the wine is made in oak casks of oak from 100 hl.

The alcoholic fermentation is preceded by a phase of pre-fermentation maceration cold in order to enhance the typical aromatic component of the varietal. For a long maceration, which aims to strengthen the capacity of aging, followed for at least 18 months aging, for which you prefer containers demi-muid 600 liters. After the assembly and a light filtration, we proceed to the bottling and here the wine is aged for at least 18 months before being offered for sale.

    Tasting Notes:
The particular concentration of color is expressed in a bright ruby load. The nose hints of earth and undergrowth alternate with precise notes of jam, cocoa and ripe cherry. The taste is great highlights the trace mineral, important tannins, well balanced by the sweetness alcoholic. Wine wrap, load structure, whose aromatic complexity undoubtedly gain in detente through further bottle aging. - Winery

This is starting to develop, with aromas of mushroom, leather and beef stock. On the palate, plum and blackberry fruit reigns, accented by oak spice. Not flashy, but shows depth and fine length. Best from 2017 through 2026. 950 cases made. –BS - Wine Spectator Magazine 93 Points
