Le Macchiole's 2012 Bolgheri Rosso is a gorgeous entry-level wine. Energetic and resonant in the glass, the 2012 races across the palate with an exciting mélange of dark red and black stone fruits, flowers, mint and spices. The flavors remain bright and beautifully articulate throughout. There is so much to like here. - Antonio Galloni - Vinous 91 Points

Bright red-ruby. Red cherry, sweet spices and balsamic nuances on the perfumed, powerful nose. Then very clean and fresh on the palate, with spicy herbs accenting the savory red and dark fruit flavors. This very cabernet franc-dominated blend finishes big, dense and smooth. An outstanding Bolgheri Rosso from Le Macchiole. -- Ian D'Agata - Vinous 91 Points

The 2012 Bolgheri Rosso (50% Merlot, 30% Syrah and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon aged in oak for ten months) opens to soft layers of cherry syrup and sweet fruit embedded within the wine’s rich texture. The Syrah component is 10% higher in 2012 and you can definitely identify lingering tones of smoked bacon and white pepper that are characteristic of that grape variety. This is a fine effort. - Robert Parker 90 Points
