La Colombina, which borders both the Ciacci estate and the Uccelliera estate in the warm southeastern Castelnuovo dell'Abate district of Montalcino, has been in the Caselli family for generations. The superior location of the estate is immediately evident in the ripe, powerful fruit on the nose, with an underlying intensity and weight that is typical of Castelnuovo dell'Abate, making wines such as those of Ciacci and Uccelliera so compelling and long-lived. About 1200 cases are made each year. - Winery

This red combines power and elegance, with bright acidity and dense tannins. Cherry and plum fruit are accented by leather, tobacco and mineral as this glides to a lingering conclusion. Shows fine balance, with a tealike finish. Best from 2020 through 2035. - Wine Spectator Magazine 94 Points

The La Colombina 2012 Brunello di Montalcino opens to tart berry notes with dried cherry and blackberry at the front. The wine delivers thick texture and smooth consistency that is in line with the attributes of this warm vintage. Spice, leather and tobacco appear on the finish. This Brunello is aged in large oak casks (with both French and Slavonian wood) for up to 40 months. - Robert Parker 91 Points

A winter-warming, muscular, full-throttle style: prune and black cherry aromas with animal and leather undertones, ceding to powerful yet smooth black fruit and liquorice flavours, bolstered by momentous yet fine-edged tannins. - Decanter Magazine 90 Points

This opens with earthy forest floor, leather and oak-derived vanilla notes. The brawny, monolithic palate doles out ripe Morello cherry, raspberry jam and licorice flavors, with a warming layer of alcohol. Solid tannins keep it feeling firm. Drink 2019-2025. - Wine Enthusiast Magazine 89 Points
