Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2015:
This wine comes from two stellar sites: Broken Rock and Las Piedras. Together, they yield magic - a thick, juicy and well integrated layering of red cherry, clove and cigar that exudes a strong barrel presence and structured tannin profile.
* Broken Rock - Blessed with high drainage and low fertility soil on the eastern ridge of Napa Valley at the foot of Atlas Peak, Broken Rock consistently produces wines of unusual intensity and concentration.
* Las Piedras - A signature Cabernet sourced entirely from Las Piedras. Known for its gravely soil, this Beckstoffer Heritage vineyard traces its roots back to the original Mexican land grants more than 150 years ago.
- Aged: 18 months in 100% French oak
- Alcohol: 14.8%
Polished currant, fig and blackberry fruit flavors meld with light loam, tobacco and menthol accents, all framed by singed alder details on the finish. A textbook Napa Cabernet that is approachable now but will gain some additional nuance with cellaring. Drink now through 2027. 500 cases made. - Wine Spectator Magazine 91 points
