(100% tempranillo) Inky ruby. Extremely ripe nose offers powerful scents of roasted cherry and plum, along with dark chocolate and smoky herbs. The port-like qualities carry onto the palate, which offers sweet, deeply concentrated dark fruit compote, espresso and bitter chocolate flavors. Finishes with a wallop of ripe plum and impressive length. A bit extreme for my taste, but delivers undeniably impressive impact and richness. - Stephen Tanzer 90 Points
The 2006 Allende has a boisterous bouquet of macerated red cherries, mango sorbet, marmalade and balsamic vinegar. It demonstrates fine delineation and vivacity. The palate is medium-bodied with fleshy ripe tannins: a generous, heart-warming Allende that probably does not quite deliver the complexity on the licorice and spice-tinged finish. Drink now-2020. - Robert Parker 88 Points
Alluring flavors of blackberry and black cherry are accented with smoke, licorice and spice notes in this fresh, lively red. Nervy and expressive. Drink now through 2012. 3,000 cases imported. –TM - Wine Spectator Magazine 87 Points
