    This Wine Is Rated:

    • AG 90-92 Points

This cuvée makes up most of the wine we produce. It comes from vines located above the hamlet of Verenay, mainly in the place known as “La Viallière”, but also in "Champon", "Le Plomb" and "Verenay".

The assemblage from these places gives fine, elegant wines, although they do have a definite tannic presence.

They can be drunk in the year after bottling, to take full advantage of the youthful aromas or a few years later, when age will have added to their complexity. - Winery

    Grape variety:

    96% Syrah
    4% Viognier

Age of the vines: from 10 to 50 years old.

Ageing: 24 months in oak barrels (15% new), no filtration

Saturated ruby. Spice- and mineral-accented aromas of red berries, cherry pit and potpourri, with a smoky topnote. Minerally, incisive and appealingly sweet on the palate, offering smoky cherry and black raspberry flavors complicated by hints of spicecake and licorice. Shows very good power and vivacity on the nervy finish, with the smoke and spice notes repeating. The fruit here is mostly from Le Plomb, Viallière, Verenay and Champon. - Josh Raynolds - Vinous 90-92 Points
