Since 1989, Rollan de By has found its style. On one hand, the terroir allows it to obtain well-bred and subtle wines and on the other hand, the work carried out in the vineyard and on the wines takes place with the greatest respect for the practices of the Medoc.

The grape varieties planted are dominated by Merlot, providing wines with a fat and rounded character and the meticulous ageing magnifies all of their complexity.

This has a lively, pebbly feel, with juicy acidity running in and around the bright cherry, red currant and floral notes. A sanguine edge lines the finish. Drink now through 2015. 28,000 cases made.–JM - Wine Spectator Magazine 88 Points

Smooth and rich, this is already a delicious wine. It has soft tannins, a touch of wood aging and swathes of ripe black plum fruits. Gently structured, with some smokiness, it's going to age relatively quickly, so drink from 2016. - Wine Enthusiast Magazine 88 Points

From the flagship property of proprietor Jean Guyon, the 2011 Rollan de By is a blend of 70% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc and 10% Petit Verdot. Of nearly classified growth quality, it boasts attractive cedary, spicy, licorice, black currant and tobacco leaf notes along with medium body. While it does not have the power or richness of such great vintages as 2010 and 2009, there is a lot to like about this beautiful Medoc. A sleeper of the vintage, it can be enjoyed over the next 3-4 years. - Robert Parker 87 Points
