THE WINE:
Fruit for our Sauvignon Blanc, principally sourced from our historic St. Helena estate, was hand-picked in the cool of night to ensure it reached the winery in pristine condition. The freshly picked grapes were cold-soaked on the skins for 6-8 hours, before going to press, a process that enhances the fruit’s natural aromatics. The wine was cold fermented slowly in stainless steel tanks to further its wonderfully aromatic bouquet and delicate f lavor profile. This light to medium-bodied wine displays vibrant notes of lime, guava and lemongrass on the nose. The f lavors are of lime, passionfruit and lychee, with crisp acidity.
THE VINTAGE:
Our viticulturalists felt the spring and summer tracked similar to the 2018 vintage – dry February, warmer than average spring, good fruit set, yields about average, basically a normal growing year. While it was a warm summer, we had no heat spikes until August. Harvest began for whites in the first half of August, and extended into the red varietals into October.
