From 10-35 year old vines in the Le Capezzine and I Poggetti Vineyards. The grapes were macerated on their skins for 20-25 days in stainless steel tanks and aged for 18 months in Slavonian oak barrels (50%) and neutral French barriques (50%).
Fresh and elegant, this medium-bodied wine shows ample red fruit and notes of violet and savory herbs with a streak of balanced acids and minerality. Fine-grained tannins lend structure to the lingering and pleasant finish.
Blend:
85% Prugnolo Gentile
10% Canaiolo Nero
5% Mammolo
There's loads of Sangiovese character here, from the earthy, tobacco-scented beginning to the cherry, leather and earth flavors, all underlined by stiff, chalky tannins. Rustic yet soulful. Best from 2018 through 2024. 16,666 cases made.–BS - Wine Spectator Magazine 91 Points
