Winemaking talent Diogo Sepúlveda turned his ambitions to the Algarve, wanting to prove the sun-drenched, popular vacation destination could also grow award-winning wines. His Al-Ria (‘at the seaside’) blends heat-worshipping grapes Touriga...
THE WINE: With a century of expertise, Casa Ermelinda Freitas is one of Portugal’s most iconic estates. And Rocksand will show you why. It hails from the sandy Fernando Pó vineyard, where hot days ripen grapes to perfection and cool nights and coastal breezes help retain freshness. Gilbert & Gaillard judges raved, “Expressive nose intermixing redcurrant,...
Our vineyards are planted in sunny gentle slopes of clay and limestone soils near Lisbon which, allied to the beneficial maritime influence, provide excellent conditions for the production of quality wines. This wine was produced with Castelao (35%), Tinta Roriz (25%), Syrah (25%) and Touriga Nacional (15%) grapes. Obtained through traditional fermentation and long maceration, it has aged in Portuguese new oak barrels for 4 months. - Winery

Vale Meão built its reputation supplying fruit to the famed 250-year-old Port house Ferreira. In 1952, its vineyards were chosen to create a revolutionary wine, which for decades would be the Douro’s only globally recognized table wine. Vale Meão began a new life in 1998 when Xito realized his dream of making his own wine...
