Winemaking:Each plot is harvested in small crates on the day that the grapes achieve perfect ripeness. The clusters then pass over the sorting table from which only the best berries go on to be processed. The first musts from the plots chosen for Ramón Bilbao are slowly fermented in tanks to bring out the freshness and exotic character of the albariño.Tasting Notes:Straw-yellow in color with bright green accents the color of Granny Smith apples. On the nose, fresh aromas and a salty touch...
VARIETY:100% Tempranillo2015 HARVEST:The 2015 harvest was one of the earliest in recent decades. The meteorological conditions enabled the plants to develop perfectly during the vegetative cycle. A cold winter with steady rain provided our vineyards with sufficient water resources for the whole year. The spring was cool which favoured good budding and good quality clusters to develop. A warm summer especially July which was the hottest on record in the Rioja. September and October brought...
The Remelluri estate’s origins date back to the 14th century when monks from the Toloño monastery founded a sanctuary and farm at the site. The monks later abandoned the site but local hermits continued to maintain the shrine while the Real Divisa, a local community organization, maintained the farms to accommodate the needs of pilgrims who came to pray at the sanctuary. The estate eventually was spilt up and sold. The modern winery was established in 1967 when Jaime Rodríguez Salis purchased...

The king of the Segura Viudas line comes out of the gate a bit heavy, with mineral, slate and iodine aromas along with citrus rind and yeast. But it gets better with air, as bready, richer characteristics appear. Only modestly tangy on the finish, with far more complexity than the average cava delivers. — M.S. - Wine Enthusiast Magazine 90 Points

Inky ruby. Earthy cherry and dark berry scents are accompanied by brooding notes of printer's ink, graphite and licorice root. Starts off solid and a bit clenched but aeration brings out sweeter kirsch and floral pastille flavors. The finish shows bitter cherry, chocolate and espresso. Give this some cellar time. - Stephen Tanzer 90 PointsThe 2004 El Puntido was sourced from its namesake vineyard planted in 1975. The wine was aged in new French oak for 18 months. Purple-colored, it offers an...
(100% tempranillo) Inky ruby. Drop-dead gorgeous aromas of raspberry, blackberry, Indian spices, smoky bacon, rose and incense. Broad, sweet red and dark berry flavors are energized by juicy acidity and firmed by fine-grained tannins. Supple and deep but lively, with a strong, spicy mineral component that gains strength through the finish. This wine's mix of sweet and spicy elements is captivating. The yield for this wine was reportedly 23 hectoliters per hectare and the berries were...

Bright violet colour. Highly perfumed bouquet offers fresh blackberry, blueberry, potpourri and peppery spices. Pliant, medium-bodied dark berry flavours show good freshness and energy, picking up silky tannins with air. Turns tighter on the back, with the sweet dark fruit qualities echoing. This is pretty sexy stuff, especially for the price.
