Brand Story:
Fox Den Vineyard sits on the western boundary of the Green Valley AVA in the Russian River Valley, 12 miles from the coast. The microclimate has moderate daytime temperatures, cool nights, and early-morning fog, resulting in a long growing season that is perfect for Pinot Noir. The grapes boast good sugar levels, ripe tannins, and high acid, resulting in dense and complex wines.
Winemaking:
Grapes were hand-picked, hand-sorted, and de-stemmed. They underwent a five-day cold soak followed by fermentation in French Oak with daily punch-downs by hand, three times a day to enhance flavor extraction.
Vintage Notes:
Winter months were dry with unseasonably warm weather in the early part of the season. February saw two times the average amount of rainfall, with rain continuing through March. Spring saw more showers, with interspersed warm weather. Below-average temperatures in June created some millerandage, which is highly desirable as it makes for better phenolic development and better air flow, preventing mold. This led to near-historic crop averages and great vine balance.
Tasting Notes:
On the nose, Bing cherry and red plum delight with a hint of crushed red rose petals and baking spices. On the palate, mix of sweet and tart with flavors of dried cranberry, wild strawberry, clove and nutmeg. This wine is weighty and textured.

Pair this medium bodied wine with medium bodied dishes, highlight fruit notes by using fresh berries or pomegranate seeds, or enjoy with your favorite pizza topped with fresh roasted vegetables and prosciutto.
