Of intense ruby color, our Brunello shows on the palate alluring aromas of very ripe red berries and delicate spices, while the full body is gratifying and persistent, with outstanding minerality. Remarkable tannins, soft and creamy in texture, confer concentration and aging potential to this wine, a real “Cru” of great distinctiveness. - Winery
The 2011 Brunello di Montalcino is a very beautiful wine that evolves slowly in the glass to reveal ever more intensity. It offers generous cherry flavors followed by spice, leather, tobacco and grilled herb. The mouthfeel delivers a pretty level of softness and plushness. In general, I found this to be a very balanced wine. There's a nice level of understated simplicity that makes the wine appropriate for near-term consumption. But there is also enough complexity for moderate aging. - Robert Parker 92+ Points
Aromas of baked plum, fragrant blue flower, cooking spice, toasted oak and a whiff of scorched earth come together on this robust wine. The hearty palate offers mature black cherry, raisin, Asian spice and oak alongside solid, close-grained tannins that leave a bracing finish. - Wine Enthusiast Magazine 90 Points
Deep red-ruby. Aromas of black cherry, spices, licorice, dried flowers and spices are a bit stunted by oakiness. Sweet, big and dense on entry, then stuffed with chunky dark cherry, mocha and loam flavors. The broad, ripe finish features repeating dark cherry and mocha notes. This is an impressive, very big Rosso, a real baby Brunello, but it doesn't quite have the complexity or depth typical of the best Brunellos. Still, there's a lot of wine here. - Ian D'Agata - Vinous 89 Points
The 2011 Brunello di Montalcino is dark, powerful and intense. Heavy notes of mocha and torrefaction dominate over the dark fruit and give the wine a sense of astringency that is felt in the tannins. This plump, fruit-driven Brunello is best enjoyed over the next few years. With a gentler hand, the 2011 could have been a more complete wine. - Antonio Galloni 88 Points
