Product information:
The majority of grapes were selected from Napa Valley vineyards planted 300 feet above the valley floor on a steeply terraced, rocky site that faces southwest. The 2007 blend includes a small percentage of Mount Veeder fruit which was added to enhance body and complexity. The hand-picked fruit aged for 20 months in new oak (90% French and 10% American), with frequent rackings during the first year.
Aromas of rich dark berries with hints of cigar box and herbal notes precede flavors of roasted coffee bean and vanilla. Firm but accessible tannins provide structure to this approachable, full-bodied California red.
