Loading... Please wait...The 2005 Coto de Imaz Reserva is predominantly Tempranillo with a dollop of Graciano aged for 18 months in American oak. Dark ruby red with a fragrant nose of cedar, rose petal, cherry, and cassis that jumps from the glass, on the palate it displays an elegant personality, good concentration, savory flavors, and enough structure to evolve for several years. It should be at its best from 2012 to 2020.

Much like the 2004, this wine straddles traditional and modern lines. The nose offers light raisin, spearmint, brick dust and leafy red fruit aromas, while the palate may seem acidic and sour to some but reflective of old Rioja to others. Strong American oak accents of dill, coconut and vanilla are present on the palate and finish. Drink now through 2012. - M.S.

This traditional-style red shows dried cherry, tobacco, spice and leaf flavors, enlivened by bright acidity and supported by gentle tannins. Supple, balanced and fresh. Drink now. 3,000 cases imported. –TM
