The vineyards for Monte Oton are situated high on the windswept slopes of the extinct volcano, Moncayo. The sun drench, arid location is ideal for harvesting, perfectly matured, fully ripened Garnacha grapes. The resulting wine is full bodied, elegantly textured and exhibits a long complex finish. - Winery
The 2014 Monte Oton is also 100% Grenache, with this wine coming from chalky alluvial terraces in the foothills of the Moncayo Mountains. Again, a totally unadorned wine with no wood whatsoever, this wine shows loads of minerality and slightly more rusticity than the Viña Borgia, even though it's slightly more expensive, with more tannin and spice. Drink now through 2018. - Robert Parker 86 Points
This fresh, supple red offers bright flavors of cherry, cola and toast, with lively acidity and just a touch of tannin. Try it slightly chilled. Drink now. 5,000 cases made. –TM - Wine Spectator Magazine 83 Points
