    Length/Type of Fermentation:
The grapes from each lot are fermented separately in stainless-steel vats for approximately 20 days, depending on the vintage. Upon completion of fermentation, the wine is racked to barriques, where malolactic fermentation takes place.

    Length/Type of Aging:
After fermentation is complete, the separate lots are then aged for one year in barriques (20% new, with a balance in one and two year old casks). The 14 lots are then blended and racked to large Slavonian oak casks ranging

Smooth and elegant, this opens with a lovely fragrance of violet, rose, lush dark fruit and a whiff of cake spices. The juicy palate doles out ripe black cherry, licorice and mocha alongside silky tannins. It’s surprisingly fresh and precise for what was a hot and precocious vintage. - K.O. - Wine Enthusiast Magazine 94 Points

The 2011 Barbaresco opens to a dark garnet color and shows immediate opulence and intensity where its aromas are concerned. There’s an undeniable level of finesse and focus here that goes against all the things you might assume about a warmer vintage like 2011. The mouthfeel is perfectly tempered and smooth with an incredible sense of liveliness and dimension. Fruit is sourced from Gaja’s many vineyard holdings. Drink: 2017-2035. - Robert Parker 93 Points

This red shows purity to the cherry, strawberry, licorice and floral flavors. Focused and taut, with a lingering aftertaste of licorice, spice and tobacco notes. The refined texture makes this distinctive. Best from 2017 through 2028. 3,500 cases made. –BS - Wine Spectator Magazine 91 Points

Good medium red. Pungent cranberry, pomegranate and cherry aromas accented by fresh herbs and cinnamon. Nicely concentrated and youthfully tight, with strong acidity and a firm tannic spine keeping the mid-palate fruit under wraps today. Finishes with enticing lingering perfume. Will this gain in flesh by the time it goes into bottle? - Stephen Tanzer 89-90 Points
